Privacy Policy

This policy applies to all information collected or submitted on the By The Case® website and app for iPhone and iPad

Information we collect

By The Case uses Apple’s CloudKit service for searching and browsing the system. CloudKit protects your AppleID and identity by supplying a unique, non-identifiable access token to the app,  and as a result,  By The Case does not have access to information to personally identify users.

If you choose to share feedback to By The Case using the buttons in the app or links on the website, an email is sent to from one of the email accounts that you have set up on your device. That email will be stored on the email service. We do not sell or share these email addresses with any organizations.

The app uses Apple’s remote notifications feature to notify you when new agents, events or featured news items are added to the system.  Future releases may expand the types of notifications but in all cases, notifications can be  enabled or disabled in the By The Case settings panel or in the iPhone or iPad Settings app directly.

Search History

Every search performed in By The Case logs the following information in iCloud

This information is used to improve the quality of the search feature and to measure the popularity of the app. iCloud also stores a user ‘token’ for each search result but that token does not include any personal identifying information

The By The Case app stores aggregate, anonymous statistics, such as the percentage of users who use particular features, to improve the app.

Information usage

We interpret the information that is collected to operate and improve our website, apps, and customer support.

We do not share personal information with outside parties. We may share anonymous, aggregate statistics with outside parties, such as how many people visit an Agent or Producer profile.

We may disclose the limited information the app possesses in response to subpoenas, court orders, or other legal requirements; to exercise our legal rights or defend against legal claims; to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud or abuse, violations of our policies; or to protect our rights and property.

In the future, we may sell to, buy, merge with, or partner with other businesses. In such transactions, the collected usage information may be among the transferred assets.

By The Case relies on Apple’s iCloud service which is designed with security and privacy at its core. By The Case does not have access to any iCloud usernames or passwords and all integration with iCloud is encrypted by Apple technology.

Accessing, changing, or deleting information

By The Case allows users to mark agents as favourites. This information can be easily be cleared in the app. The app also allows users to request changes to agents and producers. These requests are evaluated by us and once verified will be applied to the public database.

By The Case allows anyone signed in to their AppleID to access the system. If it is determined that the system is being abused (mass collection of agent and producer content for example), we reserve the right to block access to the system in these cases.

Third-party links and content

By The Case displays links and content from third-party websites (agents, producers, featured news items). These websites have their own independent privacy policies, and we have no responsibility or liability for their content or activities.

Information may be processed, stored, and used outside of the country in which you are located. Data privacy laws vary across jurisdictions, and different laws may be applicable to your data depending on where it is processed, stored, or used.
